Gossip Guy Travels: Thailand, Part 1: Pattaya

Story from: GOSSIP GUY

Hi sunshines,

Gossip Guy here, with more of our Asian adventures. [If missed, see Hong Kong part 1 (arrival and main islands) here and part 2 (Disneyland) – Ed.]

I meant to post these ages ago but time kinda ran away from me – who can’t relate to that precise problem of adulting?!?!

But better late than never. Besides, @mrsgossipguy and I are confirmed Thailandistas. We went for our honeymoon [Bucket list item —> checked! – Ed.] and loved it so much we went back the following year. This was our third trip and as with the previous two times, we let our wanderlust do the talking and we went somewhere new (well, new to us!): Pattaya.

Pattaya is a coastal resort town about 90 minutes drive from Bangkok. It’s got all the things that pull the tourists (and us!) to Koh Samui and Phuket (our previous Thailand destinations) but has the added convenience of being close to Bangkok. So it was: fly. land. collect luggage. catch shuttle to hotel. nap in car.

PS: Flight landed after 8pm so there was no scenery to lustfully gaze at on the drive over to the hotel.

And speaking of hotels, this was ours… it’s okay to be jealous, you know!

*grin*

View from our balcony at Bella Villa Cabana. To see the sea – what a life!
We lazed a lot by the pool. You can see why
Nothing says tropical paradise quite like palm trees
Getting creative with the camera in the pool. The frangipanis were everywhere. So gorgeous
My fantastic travel companion, @mrsgossipguy
Pool scenery and sculptures
This impressed me: crab-towels on the bed to welcome us to the hotel room
Views from a mall on the beach road while hunting for a loo and ice-cream
So much ice-cream was consumed (mostly by moi) including green tea Kit Kat King cone. Yum!
Sunset in paradise
A faithful staple Thailand meal: Phad Thai – always a winner
Another winner: watermelon smoothies. To beat the heat and cool the brow
But one can try a tasty, tarty lemon smoothie too
Dairy Queen ice-cream ‘swirls’ are famous for their brand promise: hold the cup upside-down and the ice-cream won’t slip out. It works too!
Fairy lights outside a night market
Famous for its shopping, it’s Walking Street
At the pier – another sunset shot (duh!)
Sea. Sunset. Selfie
The 1st thing we saw at the Ripley’s Believe It Or Not is this portrait of the Thai king made entirely out of belly button lint. Still not sure I believe it!
Look ma – I weigh this much on the moon (‘less’ so yay)
Look ma – I growed tall
And goofing off over a Thai beer. Because after a while watermelon smooties are boring

Yours in travel,
XoXo
