JOHANNESBURG, (CAJ News) – BIDVEST Wits beat Lamontvile Golden Arrows 4-3 in penalty-shoot to progress to the MTN Wafa Wafa semi-final following a 2-2 draw in regulation time.

The two teams could not be separated yet again in extra-time as they went into penalty-shoot out in a match full of drama.

Both Wits and Arrows coaches Gavin Hunt and Clinton Larsen were removed from benches for vulgar languages. The match was played in Braamfontein in Johannesburg, Wits’ backyard.

As that was not enough, three players were also red carded for committing crude play.

First to be red-carded was Bidvest Wits’ defender Slavko Damjanovic for kicking Arrows’ Siphelele Magubane on the head.

Magubane could not finish the game as he was rushed to the hospital.

Golden Arrows suffered heavy blow when two players Danny Phiri and Mthokozisi Dube were shown red cards following similar offences.

Earlier in regulation time, Arrows had scored through Lerato Lamola (12) and Kudakwashe Mahachi (25) while Wits grabbed two goals through double scorer James Keene (26, 62 ).

Meanwhile, other clubs to feature in the MTN8 on Saturday are Cape Town City against Polokwane City, Kaizer Chiefs versus SuperSport United.

On Sunday Mamelodi Sundowns host stubborn Maritzburg United at Lucas Moripe Stadium.
