1st Easter Tournament for Ward 6 Sports Forum in Ndlambe

Ndlambe Easter Tournament

The Ward 6 Sports Forum from Ndlambe hosted their first ever Easter Sports Tournament under the guidance of their newly elected municipal ward councillor, Mkhululi Raco, also known as “The Releaser”.

Raco is seen as a beacon of hope among the participants. He assisted team members on how to set goals to achieve through sport. This according to organiser Bandile Nomlomo has changed the attitude of players to sports.

The tournament was held at the Shaw Park Sports Grounds on Limestone Hill Farm, which belongs to Jonathan Bradfield, during the Easter weekend.

Youngsters from all the surroundings farms within the ward and nearby townships to turn te event into a huge success. “It created an electrifying environment for the teams to compete in. We plan to host this event annually and to make it bigger and better,” Nomlomo said.

Nomlomo said that they are expecting eight teams to enter the next tournament and sponsorships will be greatly appreciated. He expects that the anticipate growth would set a milestone within their farming community.

The overall tournament winner was Leeds United Football Club who beat the runners-up, Redcity Football Club, in a penalty shootout in the final.

“We believe that the event has achieved the objectives of contributing to social cohesion, diversity, talent development and the combating of crime and drug abuse. We aim to remove all the detrimental aspects of life by building a healthy, safe, and active society where we groom young professional sportsman and sportswoman,” Nomlomo said.

“We would like to acknowledge with our sincere gratitude all sponsors who contributed to ensure the success of the event,” Nomlomo said.
