Monday Is Nelson Mandela Day – Here’s What 2OV Is Doing To Honour His Memory

Story from: 2oceansvibe.com

5 December 2013 will forever be remembered as the day the world lost a great leader and a great man.

Of course we know that the day where we choose to honour that legacy is July 18, which just happens to be this Monday. That’s Mandela Day, where the idea is that everyone takes 67 minutes out of their daily schedule to do some good for the country in which we live.

We’re on board with the idea, so we thought we’d let you know what’s cooking this side. Along with some of the other business lucky enough to call the Ideas Cartel home, we are donating time and support to St Anne’s Home.

This shelter for abused women and children currently cares for 37 adults and 25 children, and a hot meal on Monday evening would mean the world to them.

Ideas Cartel has organised some kitchen space for all businesses interested, and the aim is to cook butter chicken curry for the adults, macaroni cheese for the children, and bake cookies for dessert.

The food will then be delivered between 15:00 and 16:00 to St. Anne’s Home, so let’s hope that brings some joy to those who need it most. You can find out more about the home, and how you might be able to help them out, HERE.

As we mentioned before we will be joined by other businesses in the Ideas Cartel, and we’re lucky enough to work alongside some real goodies.

I guess that’s because we work in the CBD’s premium office space, in an area that is South Africa’s number one tourist destination (HERE), but a big thanks to Ideas Cartel for putting together Monday’s Mandela Day plans.

Let’s make Monday one day where we all pull together in the same direction, because South Africa needs more days like these.
