JOHANNESBURG, (CAJ News) ECONOMIC Freedom Fighters (EFF) Commander-In-Chief Julius Malema has unleashed venom against some leaders of the ruling African National Congress (ANC) for betraying liberation icon Winnie Madikizela-Mandela labeling them “sell-outs.”

Malema could not mention names of individuals but blamed the alleged “sell-outs” within the ANC for pretending to love Madikizela-Mandela following her death yet when she was alive they always despised her.

“Some of those who sold you out to the regime are here. They are crying the loudest, more than us – who died for you,” Malema said

The EFF leader addressed thousands of mourners in Soweto before the body was taken to the final resting place.

Malema’s assertions seem to have been confirmed by South African President, Cyril Ramaphosa, who is also ANC president when he said Madikizela Mandela was alone.

“…….too often we were not there for her (Madikizela-Mandela),” Ramaphosa said.

He added: “Let us honour her memory (Madikizela-Mandela) by pledging here that we will not betray the trust of her people, we will not squander or steal their resources, and that we will serve them diligently and selflessly,” Ramaphosa said.

The late Madikizela-Mandela was on Saturday laid to rest at the Fourways Memorial Park in Johannesburg.

Thousands of people, among them diplomats, former heads of state and liberation movements across Africa attended the burial.
