Cameroon tense after Boko Haram suicide bombings

YAOUNDE, (CAJ News) – THE security situation in the Far North region of Cameroon remains a concern after Nigeria’s Boko Haram militants killed two people recently.
The victims lost their lives following a suicide bomber attack in Dabanga in the department of Logone and Chari.Authorities have called for more vigilance in the wake of the violence.The United Nations Assistant High Commissioner for Refugees in charge of Protection, Volker Türk, has paid an official visit to Cameroon.During his mission, Türk met Lejeune Mbella Mbella and Réné Emmanuel Sadi,respectively Ministers of External Relations and Territorial Administration and Decentralization, as well as Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh,Secretary General of the Presidency.The exchanges focused on the program of assistance and protection for Nigerian refugees living in the Far North region.
It was also a matter of discussing the issues of return of Nigerian refugees to their countries of origin, Türk stressed that it was essential for UN to ensure that returns were made in a manner that respected international standards.Thousands have returned to Nigeria from Cameroon.
