Trappes Valley murderer gets 15 years

A 21-year-old man from Trappes Valley was on Tuesday sentenced to 15 years imprisonment, three of which were suspended for five years, for murder, in the Port Alfred Regional Court.

Zukile ‘Rocky’ Dayimane, was arrested after the body of a woman was discovered behind the railway cottages in Trappes Valley. Investigations revealed that Dayimane assaulted the woman the previous day after which he locked her in a room a t the railway cottages.

The severely battered victim succumbed to her injuries. On realising that the victim had died, the accused attempted to conceal the crime by removing the body from his room and then attempted to hide it in the bush behind the homes.

The victim was identified as Thundezwa Ben, aged 26, from 1950 Freestone, Bathurst.

The prosecutor, Johann Carstens, commended the investigating officer Constable Sivuyile  Gobizembe on the high standard of his investigation and the professional manner in which he compiled the docket that was presented to the court. He further added that the relationship between the investigator and prosecutor is extremely important to ensure that justice is correctly served!
