A night at Majeka House and their new Small Plates Menu.

Story from: The Incidental Tourist

Just back from an incredible trip to Madagascar, still with sand between my toes, I joined Manley Communications and a wonderful group of media and foodie enthusiasts at Majeka House to try their award winning Makaron Restaurant‘s compelling new ‘small plates’ menu by Head Chef Lucas Carstens.

Hosted by Karine Dequeker, Ian and Lise Manley, we arrived to some time at leisure before bubbly in the lounge and a moved across to indulge in six courses of delicately prepared dishes. Each holding the title of favourite, until the next arrived … The baby marrow risotto and ‘leipoldt se melktert’ ice cream sandwich (es – I had three!) were my best. Here are some pics to entice you over to experience this for yourself.

Some of the dishes of our 7 course menu.

Majeka garden leaves and homemade rooibos vinegar.
Tagliatelle, kale velouté, lemon, savoury granola, beurre noisette.
House made duck breast ham, baby figs, cos lettuce.
Baby Marrow Risotto, cured egg yolk shavings, raw mushroom truffle.
A selection for dessert, the ‘leipoldt se melktert’ icea cream sandwiches stealing my heart.

Then to be cocooned in my gorgeous room with it’s giant comfy bed and plush cushions, floral wallpaper and wood panelling, stunning designer chairs, spacious bathroom and every amenity, was heaven.

Always a hard place to leave. Here are some pics, but honestly, the only thing to do is to go on over for a meal, or much better still, a night or two.

Check out their winter special too.
With my warm thanks. #SmallPlatesMenu
