Watercolour Easter Eggs // DIY

Story from: Pure Sweet Joy

How do you like your eggs? Fried, scrambled or chocolate? I’m normally I fried kinda girl, but if chocolate is an option then it’s a tough call! Add in some Easter pastels and botanical details and you’re good to go with just about anything. So when Theuniskraal asked me to do an Easter DIY for them, it didn’t take very long to decide what I wanted to do. Watercolour Easter Eggs coming right up!

These watercolour Easter eggs look really great on a plate, with one at each place setting. You could even get totally creative and add each guest or family member’s name onto their egg. Who doesn’t love a place setting that they can eat too?

To match the theme, the palm leaves are a great alternative to placemats. They’re even Easter appropriate too!

What you need:

Candy coated chocolate eggs
Gel food colouring (Green, yellow, pink and blue)
Soft paintbrush
Paper towel

What to do:

  1. Mix a little bit of food colouring with water, to thin it slightly. Wipe off excess colour on the paper towel.
  2. Using the pink and blue colouring, paint a base ring around the bottom of your egg, or cover the whole egg.
  3. Using the green food colouring, paint a palm leaf. Start with one long curved stroke and then add leaves by doing small strokes off to each side.
  4. Add a variety of leaves of different sizes and using some yellow and green colour mixtures.
