Got Bush? This Local Ad Campaign Definitely Does

Story from: 2oceansvibe.com

Residents of the drought-stricken Cape aren’t the only ones getting in on the water saving action.

To promote the use of water-wise indigenous plants in your gardens, award-winning social enterprise Greenpop launched an ad campaign called ‘Got Bush’.

Although they are renowned for planting over 80 000 trees at schools and other urban sites, forests, and farms across South Africa, Zambia and Tanzania, Greenpop has now expanded their focus to include planting beautiful water-wise gardens and running water conservation workshops at under-resourced schools across Cape Town.

And that’s how you organically grow your cause.

The campaign features a host of South African women who were shot partially nude, save for an indigenous bouquet or two, on the grounds of Silvermist Estate by Sarah Isaacs, reports Good Things Guy:

At Greenpop, we identify as feminists. Our staff is made up of predominantly women, we work with powerful female environmentalists from every segment of society on a daily basis and we are committed to providing equal, empowering and inspiring environmental education to everyone that we work with.

And so, with that, Greenpop wanted to ensure that their campaign was inclusive of all shapes, races and ages:

We acknowledge that campaigns that make use of nakedness to titillate often include only one kind of body – thinness, whiteness, and youth are heralded as “true” beauty.

That’s why, in a further subversion of the norm, Got Bush? strengthens its message by representing women of multiple sizes, races and ages. We believe that beauty is about more than a one-dimensional image – it’s about a range of different looks, but more importantly, it’s about being a voice for a cause in which you believe.

Here are the pics – you may recognise a few of the women featured:

They totally should have made a calendar.

Top work, ladies.
